Through the KIKI2036 research project, we are investigating how generative AI – and agent-based AI in particular – shapes the upbringing of young people aged between 8 and 13, from learning and interactive experiences through to the formation of values and issues of digital self-determination.
Together with children and young people, we are developing future scenarios for growing up in the age of AI and exploring how they experience and engage with AI applications in their everyday lives, at school and during their leisure time. Based on these findings, we are, amongst other things, drafting policy papers for political decision-makers.
KIKI2036 combines education and media research, foresight, ethics, law and governance, as well as participatory formats in schools and digital learning environments. The project is funded by the BMFTR, began in June 2026 and will run for 24 months.
