New issue of *prompt/* in August 2026

The August 2026 issue of prompt/ focuses on AI regulation in Germany.

We explain who monitors compliance with the AI Regulation, what role the Federal Network Agency plays in this, and how responsibilities are divided between the federal government, the Länder and the EU. We also outline the powers and potential sanctions available to the supervisory authorities, and explain where AI-related complaints can be lodged.

In an interview, legal scholar Dr Jonas Botta explains the challenges posed by the large number of competent authorities and why he takes a critical view of certain aspects of the German regulatory structure.

We also provide an overview of which provisions of the AI Regulation have been in force since August and which obligations are due to come into force next.
