Open Educational Resources (OER) materials are free teaching and learning materials available online. The SenBJF has commissioned us to develop a tool for educational materials that can be used to check existing and future educational materials for OER suitability. This testing tool - consisting of instructions and a checklist with log fields - can be used to systematically assess educational materials in order to either label them as OER-suitable or to record what they lack. This allows the material in question to be assessed step by step and evaluated according to OER-relevant criteria. As it is designed for multiple, mass reviews and the review time per material should be as short as possible, it only reviews what can be found in the existing materials in terms of usage rights information.
The OER testing tool is published under an open, OER-compliant Creative Commons licence and is therefore open to all interested parties to use it for their own OER suitability tests or to modulate it.
