We are currently looking for an experienced research assistant with a focus on legal expertise (m/f/d) to join our office in Berlin-Kreuzberg (with the option of some remote working).
You view digitalisation as an interdisciplinary challenge that you would like to actively drive forward within our team. You follow the changes brought about by digitalisation with keen interest. With analytical expertise and sound legal knowledge, you grasp the complex interrelationships of digital transformation within the interplay of business, politics, academia, law and the media. The tasks
- Research and analysis of current developments in politics, legislation, research and the economy; drafting briefings and recommendations
- Legal assessments of the digital transformation, e.g. (generative) AI, platform regulation, supervisory structures, digital fundamental rights, etc.
- Legal classification of observations and research findings from the social sciences and humanities in the context of AI and platform regulation
- Research and compilation of information on issues relating to copyright, data protection and consumer law, as well as other legal aspects of digitalisation and platform regulation
- Designing and drafting legal opinions, position papers, studies, expert reports and explanatory documents on digital topics with legal implications
- Developing (legal) policy strategies and the strategic and conceptual development of key topics and projects within the team
- Organisation, design, facilitation and documentation of multi-stakeholder processes, workshops, discussion forums and public events
- Providing organisational and substantive support to the project management teamwww.irights-lab.de- Establishing and strategically developing partnerships, and deepening collaboration with network partners
- Identifying, designing and developing new project ideas, as well as assisting with the acquisition of third-party funding (e.g. funding applications, proposals, project outlines)
- Monitoring of business-relevant digital law discourse at federal and EU level and support with the company’s strategic direction in this area
The requirements
- A law degree or equivalent qualification (preferably with an interdisciplinary approach)
- Good knowledge of relevant laws and regulations or related digitalisation initiatives at national and EU level (e.g. NIS-2, AI Regulation, GDPR, Data Act, AI Act, Digital Services Act, Digital Markets Act)
- Several years’ professional experience in relevant roles/fields
- Excellent knowledge of digital regulation and a keen interest in current developments in the field
- Sound legal knowledge relating to digital and administrative law issues
- Strong organisational skills and excellent communication skills
- Highly professional public presence, with a good sense of political and tactical judgement
- Experience in working with public authorities
- Excellent comprehension skills, comprehensive problem-solving abilities, and a thorough, precise and professional approach to work in a highly dynamic environment
- Excellent command of the German language, very good knowledge of English and, ideally, other languages
- Willingness to travel regularly within Germany and to attend external events such as conferences and trade fairs
